Initial and Current Reactions to Skybound Transformers comics (meant to be humorous- is it? NO)

Warning: HEAVY SPOILERS

Initial reaction seeing the first designs from Skybound:

Huh, ok. They're heavily inspired by G1. I'm not really a fan of these designs, but I'll still give them a chance. Based on the designs though, I'm expecting the story to be lighthearted and fun, since that's what the show was like. I'm pretty sure everyone's traumatized from IDW (side eye at MTMTE/LL and Wreckers' Trilogy), so they're not going to write another dark, serious story.

SO FAR on Skybound Transformers:

Jetfire is shot and nearly killed

Bumblebee gets his face shot off (bc WHY NOT)

A human gets squashed and explodes like a bottle of KETCHUP

A main character gets shot and paralyzed

The (same) main character's dad DIES. His older brother also died before the series. He's got no one else now!

Starscream and Soundwave rip Skywarp apart

Starscream commits a war crime ( attacking a hospital)

Soundwave beats the living spark out of Starscream and rips out his eye

Ratchet dies (WHY)

Shockwave puts a bunch of whales and marine animals into a giant blender (and the sea turns red bc of the blood)

Shockwaves tries to put Ravage into an INCINERATOR???

Cliffjumper and Jazz get tortured by Shockwave

Ultra Magnus is revealed to have been tortured by Shockwave for hundreds of years and now has PTSD

Optimus is very depressed and also is experiencing an identity crisis.

Elita-1 and Optimus have a fall-out (literally- a piece of Cybertron FALLS out of the sky bc of their argument)

A bunch of Autobots rip apart a Decepticon soldier and collect his Energon (Does this count as planned cannibalism? )

Soundwave and the Decepticons destroy an ENTIRE city

Optimus is DEFINITELY not fine (As one YouTuber put it, Optimus Prime needs therapy)

On the bright side, Starscream now owns a cat.

Me currently: What the hell. I didn't ask for more trauma, Daniel Warren Johnson. And there's 7 more issues left. SEVEN more. I'm going to go INSANE by the end of this series-

amnesiac starscream au: horrid histories, horrid discoveries.

Starscream, following the weeks of skyfire rescue mostly spent it helping him in physical therapy.

Even after such a strong awakening such as his, after cooldown he definitely needed time to actually heal.

Not the first time he needed to help skyfire healing, the shuttle had a knack for getting himself hurt for his sake.

not that starscream minded (he did mind theedamge he keeps doing to himself , primus knows skyfire had no sense of selfpreservations skills), he gladly stuck to any excuse to be near the shuttle side at all cost, during his recovery, the flyers stuck together like glue, conversing themselves with a long forgotten language among the autobots, strange glyphs with clicks and chirps.

And naturally, the small human and her seekerling friends got curious.

Their friends from the elite gaurd, however , seemed stricken with guilt.

Sari peeked up that the amnesiac seeker with innocent curiosity in her eyes "what's that language?"

Jetfire tilted his head "yes yes, what language you speak sir star?"

Starscream expression dropped in an instant "oh..... that's-..t-t-that's...."

Skyfire quickly sensed his friend's distress, wrapped his arms around him with a comforting purr of his engines "that's vosian, a near dead language"

Jetstorm interest peeked "oh, near dead? But is so pretty! Why not alot of bots speak it anymore?"

Skyfire explains, that the language was made fun of and used as a example of vosians being ""lesser"" intelligent that most other cybertronians, which lead to many to only use it in presence of other warframe and vosians.

More and more skyfire spoke, more and more prime's team looked uncomfortable, scared doubtful, and it made skyfire so mad.

"But that didn't go too well, they still veiwed us as animals-"

"Skyfire!"

"It's true!! You know it, i know it and every flier worth their wings knows it! No matter how hospitable we were and how much we gave to them thEY STILL SEE US AS LESSER-"

"SKYFIRE!"

Skyfire stopped, starscream's more distressed and terrified, the seekerlings are quivering, the autobots looked scared and horrified-

He needs to shut up.

"I'm sorry, this won't happen again" his tone is tense, emotionless, mechanical.

The tesion is thick, no-one moved, no-one said a thing, starscream wings peaked up with a smile.

Forced, strained, smile.

"We apologise dearly for that outburst, i must get skyfire to back to berth, that's enough for today, right dear??"

"...yes.."

Before anyone could even process the information, the seeker hurred his friend away from autobots eyes, leaving them with a dead sense of dread and doubt.

His intake tight, turns to the elite gaurd member with a pleading look, please don't let my doubts be true-

"Jazz, i thought vos was a mythical city...."

"It isn't , I'm sorry "

And hell broke loose.

I love the implications of this. I love the idea of the autobots completely wiping the sky cities from history, destroying Vosian, Helexian, and Kalisian culture, denying their very existence. The flyers had beautiful cities full of culture and art and beauty, but it couldn't be allowed into the future in order to further their goals. It's the ugliest, cruellest form of genocide, denying the victims the right to even be remembered. Vos's memory lives on only in the exceptionally scarce survivors, and Starscream is terrified that, if they speak out of line, they'll take Skyfire away. Shadowplay him or just flat out have him executed

Also all hell breaking loose? Higher up autobots knowing about the destroyed civilizations but forbidden from speaking of it to the general public? Spicy

We Take it Back there’s more to the transmisogyny from the usual characters than sidelining

characters who have called IDW1 Arcee crazy and meant it: -Jhiaxus (Heart of Darkness miniseries) -Chromedome Phase 1 The Transformers #28 -Blurr in early EXRID (quickly disproven) -Prowl implies it as a possibility when Arcee says she's not his psychopath killer, and how he thinks her working for him would be a 'liability' if publicly known, also he's done other microagressions to her. Also a manipulative scraphead because Arcee helped lead an Autobot ship and crew to save the goddamn universe near the end of Phase 1 and he makes her a secret not because he’s worried about her well-being but he wants to (ab)use her and her skills and thinks she’s a risk, gaslighting her for a significant portion of the comics. Phase 1 concretely convinced us that Prowl never wanted to be friends with her because of what happens in Early EXRID after. -Jetfire and Fortress Maximus put her in spark iso on Garrus-9 because they didn't know how to help her -Liege Maximo instead calls her a violent loner (accurate in the past, at least he doesn't call her crazy) but he does it in a way that mocks the idea of her having friends -who else is on the transmisogyny by implying her insanity list (other people might be haters for other reasons we're looking at this specifically) -oh and don't forget that in IDW2 Heretekh and the Reversionists imprison her and Greenlight and take away their mentee Gauge and brainwash her since they didn't fit the reactionary mindset. Sadly IDW2 doesn't explore Arcee's transness directly but there's something to this and her writing generally in it that has to do with the trans experience, will try to pick at this later when we have more spoons. help us out here tumblr People who certainly or almost certainly haven't called her crazy and have actually affirmed her and tried to help her: -Anode (and probably Lug) -Windblade -Optimus Prime (but he likely knew about her Garrus imprisonment which like wtf OP did you take another vacation instead of giving her amnesty and therapy and helping her on her quest) -Aileron -Sideswipe (he just struggles to understand gender but he literally died alongside her, because he trusted her anyway) -Hardhead -Chromia -Victorion and the Torchbearers composing her -Galvatron -Marissa Faireborn -?Megatron? (a stopped clock is right twice a day, think we’ve talked about this elsewhere but yeah) -weirdly enough Shockwave but also y'know that's like saying Nova Prime hasn't they’re both responsible in part for her traumas or Tarantulas because he made her relive her guilt complex over seeking surgery, by torturing her, a guilt complex that she had otherwise given up.

So yeah uh- the transmisogyny in the story isn’t just structural or inferrable from Functionists and Shockwave headcanons etc and not just Arcee being imprisoned. It’s really right there throughout the late Phase 1/early Phase 2 text because of ignorance, othering, and fear.

and YEAH Sentinel is great at looking at the details and going "ok what can happen, what's mostly likely to happen, and what's possibly going to happen". Optimus as Magnus, Sentinel as an advisor, and Megatron as the kept wife. bc that's how the tfa dynamic is with megop in my mind.

also yeah what if Elita got out and managed to come back???? what would have happened. bc we see that the Autobots have no qualms about experimenting on their own citizens. case A being Jetfire and Jetstorm.

she would be an experiment, and if she got out away before they were ready to release her ofc they would drum anti-organic propaganda even more than they already do. which is also another fascinating part of tfa!

in other continuities we see that most cybertronians aren't too keen on organics, but sometimes we see that most life in the galaxy is organic. which means that in tfa they're deliberately isolating themselves, and warn their people about the horrors of organics, which Sentinel and Optimus face first hand, along with Elita.

if she made it back and managed to escape i think she would go to Op and Sentinel bc while she blames them for everything she knows that they're probably her only hope of survival.

and TFA megop!!!!! i think it has some of the most written for it but most of it is Not for me ya know? no shade, but Optimus is almost always made into some uwu baby when he's a GREMLIN and would sell Megatron's soul for one corn chip. (also Primus and Unicron apparently don't exist in TFA which has me 👀👀👀 bc that has some interesting connotations)

Optimus manages to make peace with an alien race, keep the Allspark out of Decepticon hands, regularly kicks their asses, while also basically raising an alien child that he got surprise custody of. and that's just season 1. Sentinel had his paranoia fanned and abused by Ultra Magnus, given power he wasn't ready for, and possibly also mind fucked to make him more compliant, bc it was Sentinel's idea to go down on Arachna 9.

both Optimus and Sentinel questioned things, and once Optimus was cut at the knees and thought to be neutered they turned their sights on Sentinel and made him into exactly what they wanted.

then he got a position that he never should have in the first place. bc his paranoia is so severe, imo, he shouldn't be in a position of power like that. he would be GREAT in an advisory setting tho.

and things shouldn't have gone to shit so fast when Sentinel became Magnus unless it was already that bad and his incompetence just brought the curtain down.

Shattered glass skystar angst (Spoilers!!!)

Ye...this isn't canon lol I made this for fun. Also this is all imagined in jetfire's head, Starscream (shattered glass anyways) isn't that petty.

This started out as a random sketch then I was like "woah this actually looks pretty good" and tada. I just love the shattered glass series and how they literally incorporated skystar angst as the main plot line, so I absolutely had to make my own.

Anyways expect more shattered glass content from now on. I'm planning on hyperfixating on this series until jetfire and starscream get together or get therapy. Which is never.

Ok so before we start, I gotta fess up and say I got spoiled for something because Twitter Sucks, so I know Tarn is in this series. Here are my predictions about that: 

Megatron said he rescued Astrotrain from a tyrant. I thought he meant an Alt!Universe version of him, but now that I know This Bastard is gonna be in it, I’m guessing it’s Tarn

If Megatron DID save Astrotrain from Tarn, it’d be hilarious if Tarn & co. weren’t actually planning to kill Astrotrain, they were just using him as transport, in which case Megatron essentially car-jacked (train-jacked?) them.

As much as I rag on Tarn and the DJD I actually do genuinely love the idea of an Autobot + Decepticon teamup against the DJD THAT WOULD BE SO FRICKIN COOL....

It’s frickin HYSTERICAL that every time Optimus has some ~deep spiritual~ conversation with the past Primes he’s just standing there frozen while the Autobots wait for him to unfreeze like he’s some kind of ancient computer doing updates. Like, that’s legitimately one of the funniest pieces of information canon’s given us so far, thank you for my life Cyberverse writers.

I wonder if Arcee and the other bots ever take selfies with him while he’s frozen like that THERE’S SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR COMEDY HERE

Optimus: *is frozen for a couple hours while talking to old Primes* Autobots: *put on PJs and unroll their sleeping bags so they can have a slumber party while waiting for him*

Heck now I’m just imagining them playing truth or dare or some similar game while waiting for Optimus to wake up. 

I’m sure at some point during their voyage on the Ark, Optimus froze and they all played the “who can do this silly / embarrassing thing in front of Optimus and get away with it before he wakes up” game. Like, Rodimus somersaults down the hall while spouting fire in front of Optimus, Bee does a handstand while singing the alphabet backwards, etc, and whoever’s in front of Optimus when he “wakes up” loses. (It’d be even funnier if Optimus kept pretending to be frozen while they played until someone did something REALLY embarrassing and he unfroze to freak them out. Then again, the Matrix going back into his chest would probably be too much of a giveaway huh)

Whatever he saw in that other universe convinced him that killing Optimus just wasn’t worth it (or perhaps, deep deep DEEP down, he really doesn’t want to kill his old friend).

Well thanks to a certain pair of friends (they know who they are) I’ve come to appreciate Starscream a lot more than I used to.

It also shows in how he’s been retconned in my fanverse from a guy who starts out as a perceived “imaginary friend” to one of the kids before eventually acting out some ‘breaking the timeline’ evil scheme to ensure he doesn’t die and ends up sealed away (possibly forever) after a emotional breakdown about being a ghost and watching everyone “move on so happily without him” to a character that does start out in the “assumed imaginary friend” spot but he eventually breaks down and gets some therapy for himself before becoming a bit more heroic and earning himself a little redemption arc and a very happy ending.

Also BW2 gave us a simply darling Starscream whom I adore very much.

Aftermath(Kitty's Transforming Story)

Since the war, a lot has happened.

First off, I became Optimus' second in command you could say, Optimus and I had developed feelings after how close we became after the war, I confessed first and he was scared at first because he thought that I still had feelings for Rodimus, I do but when I saw Rodimus, I knew that it was time for me to move on, and it was hard, but Rodimus wanted me to. So Optimus said okay and we're closer than ever before.

Bulkhead and Bumblebee trained and are the new Elite Guard members and work at the Academy to help train the new bots to become strong and to help the future generations. Sari also teaches the new bots about organic life and Techno-Organics and teaches them that they shouldn't fear them.

Ratchet and Arcee work at the Medical Clinic on Cybertron and help the bots that are still injured from the war. Drift comes in once in a while to tease Ratchet and flirt with him and Arcee.

Jazz teaches the young bots and new members about Cyber Ninjas and trains them to become one.

Tailgate and Cyclonus are happily together, but some bots still don't trust Cyclonus, but he doesn't really care.

Jetfire and Jetstorm mess around with Sentinel and are more happy to serve Optimus than Sentinel. Sentinel just takes care of the paperwork and is third in command, that means that he's below me. Which till this day I still laugh about it.

Rung continues to give therapy to the other bots and gives advice to some Decepticons wanting to redeem themselves.

Wheeljack was able to fix Perceptor and Perceptor is happy to have a personality again.

Team Athena is still united even after losing Rodimus, and I look after them once in a while.

Nova Prime changed his name to Optimus Primal and Rattletrap changed his to Rattrap, just like how I remembered them. Blackarachnia messes around with Silverbolt, not realizing that it actually gets to him and he flirts with her. Waspinator and Dinobot are in the Decepticon prison, alongside Lugnut, my Starscream, and the seekers.

Ironhide decides to watch over the prison in case anyone tries anything fishy.

Some Decepticons decided to change their names to Predacons, which means that the war will start again, but no one will live to see the day.

A bot named Swerve opened up a bar for Autobots to go and enjoy some drinks, which to me sounds like fun.

The Dinobots decided that they would leave Dinobot Island and decide to come and live on Cybertron. Which is surprising.

Bots on Cybertron finally decide to accept organic life meaning that people aren't scared of me or Sari anymore, a good thing.

Rosanna and some other bots decide to perform as a band once in a while and want me to perform with them, which sounds fun.

Now that the war is over, I can finally relax and have fun, like I've always wanted to and I mourn for the bots that can't be with us on Cybertron and hope that they're safe in the aftermath. I'm talking about you Prowl, Blitzwing, and Rodimus Prime. I won't ever forget you...

I won’t do all of them, ‘cause that’d be a lot.

Optimus Prime is freaked out and has no idea what to do at first. He takes you to Ratchet while he tries to figure out what he’s going to do. He teaches you about Cybertron and helps you get used to your new body, and comforts you if you get upset.  He’s lost af, but he knows you’re having any even more confusing time than him.

Ratchet runs some scans and is frustrated when he doesn’t understand. He’s worried about you and gives you constant check-ups and cautiously gives you fuel and energon to see how you’ll react. He’ll also put you through physical therapy to help you become used to your new body.

Jetstorm and Jetfire are partly freaked and partly excited. They have so many questions- how did this happen? Does that mean you can go to Cybertron with them? You tell them you have no idea either. The slow down and make sure you’re okay, asking if you’d like to go see Ratchet and see if he can fix things.

Megatron looks you over and smiles. He compliments your new body and starts making plans to use the allspark on more humans, preferably all of earth. He can’t wait for you to rule by his side.

Lugnut is worried about you, but you can pretty much tell he enjoys that you’re Cybertronian. He believes Cybertronians to be superior in every way, plus you’re big enough so that he can hug you without hurting you. He checks you over to make sure you aren’t damaged in any way.
